    1/2 kg Oatmeal, fine
      2 ts Baking powder
    120 g  Lard
      2 ts Ginger, ground
      1 ts Mixed spice
    250 g  Golden syrup
 
  Rub the lard into the oatmeal and mix in the spices and baking
  powder. Warm the syrup and mix it into the oatmeal till you have a
  stiff mixture.
  
  Grease a flat baking tin, pour in the parkin and bake for 1 to 1 1/4
  hours at 300F, gas mark 2
