Mincemeat Squares

      Title: MINCEMEAT SQUARES

      1 c  Rolled oats
      1 c  All-purpose flour
    1/4 ts Baking soda
    1/4 ts Salt
    1/2 c  Brown sugar
    1/2 c  Shortening
  1 1/4 c  Mincemeat
      1 tb Rum
 
  Combine rolled oats, flour, baking soda, salt and sugar. Cut in
  shortening until mixture is crumbly. Firmly press half of this
  mixture into an 8 inch square pan. Spread evenly with mincemeat,
  flavoured with rum. Top with remaining crumb mixture, packing down
  firmly with fingers. Bake at 350 F for 25 to 30 minutes.
